About The Role
At the Coal Authority, the Environment Department is responsible for addressing the issues of water pollution from abandoned coal and metal mines across Britain by developing new schemes and supporting the operation of over 75 existing mine water treatment schemes.  There are three main delivery programmes covering sites spread across the former coal and metal mining areas in England, Wales and Scotland.
This role is crucial to supporting the delivery of our Welsh Metal Mines programme (NRW Programme) and our English Metal Mines programme (DEFRA Programme).
Projects generally include a variety of remedial interventions, not least surface water and spoil heap management and both passive and active mine water treatment schemes and we actively consider and trial novel and emerging technologies, encountering a wide range of environmental sensitivities and constraints at all sites, with most of the sites having some designated areas / features either close to or on-site  and most typically located in rural areas and sitting within or close to protected areas.
In this role you will:
  • Assist the team in the delivery and management of both the NRW and DEFRA metal mine programmes
  • Assist with the reporting at project and programme level, including collation of information to report internally and to external partners
  • Keep and maintain effective and efficient systems to record project administration
  • Support the Programme and Project Managers through all stages of project delivery
  • Assist with the compilation of information to ensure compliance with the CA business protocol and Project Management Methodology
