Senior Planning Engineer – Renewable energy

Climate17 are working with one of Europe’s largest independent power producers who operate a significant portfolio of renewable energy projects across the UK, Europe and the USA.

They are actively searching for a Senior Planning Engineer to join their Growth Business Unit, based in Edinburgh, to develop and manage integrated project schedules (from Level 1 up to Level 5) from baseline definition through periodic updates.

Responsibilities
 

  • Set, monitor and control schedule baselines, ensuring alignment between planned activities, actual progress and approved milestones.
  • Perform critical path analysis, identify delays and risks, and provide reliable forecasts of key milestones and project completion dates.
  • Monitor planning performance using appropriate progress measurement techniques, including schedule KPIs, S-curves and earned value analysis.
  • Prepare recovery schedules, mitigation plans and time impact analyses to support decision-making related to delays or changes.
  • Coordinate planning inputs across departments.
  • Review EPC Contractors’ planning deliverables, ensuring logic integrity, realism and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Lead planning review meetings and ensure effective follow-up of planning-related actions.
  • Produce clear planning reports, including progress status, risks and forecasts, for project teams and management.
  • Apply and contribute to the continuous improvement of planning methodologies, tools and standards.

Requirements
 
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Solid experience in project planning and scheduling within EPC, infrastructure, energy or industrial projects; experience in renewable energy projects is considered a strong plus.
  • Proven capability in managing integrated schedules, baseline control and progress monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of CPM, progress measurement and schedule performance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project - Experience with Planisware is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Structured, detail-oriented approach with the ability to maintain a high-level project view.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence in interacting with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, reliable and results-oriented mindset
  • Fluent English is required.
