Pump Engineer

Commercial Pump Specialist – Mobile Engineer – Up to £70,000 per annum + Package

An excellent opportunity to join a private specialist engineering company as a Mobile Commercial Pump Engineer, working across a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial, and public sector sites.

This role involves the servicing, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of a wide range of pumping systems, supporting critical building services including HVAC, water supply, and wastewater systems.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on mechanical engineer with strong fault-finding ability and experience working in field-based environments.

You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate efficiently while delivering a high level of service to clients.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 08:00 am - 17:00 pm 
  • Call-out rota and overtime as required

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on commercial pump systems
  • Service, repair, and maintain a range of pumps including end suction, inline, split-case, vertical multistage, booster, and sump pumps
  • Diagnose and fault-find on mechanical and electrical components including motors, seals, bearings, couplings, and VFD systems
  • Perform pump rebuilds, seal replacements, impeller adjustments, and motor alignments
  • Conduct system performance testing and vibration analysis to identify faults and inefficiencies
  • Support commissioning and start-up of new and existing pumping systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts
  • Complete detailed service reports, job sheets, and parts lists accurately and on time
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and recommendations on system performance and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety and environmental regulations
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and diagnostic equipment to a high standard
  • Work independently across multiple sites while managing workload effectively

Package:
  • Up to £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Requirements:
  • 3–5+ years’ experience working on commercial or industrial pump systems
  • Strong knowledge of pump systems, including pump curves, mechanical seals, and hydronic systems
  • Experience working with VFD-controlled systems
  • Proven ability to diagnose both mechanical and electrical faults
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Physically capable of working in plant rooms, confined spaces, and lifting equipment as required
  • Strong communication and reporting skills

Desirable (Not Essential):
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification or technical diploma
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
  • Manufacturer training or certifications
  • Health & Safety qualifications (e.g.

    OSHA or equivalent)
