This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Director of Programme and Contract Assurance, and you will provide assurance to the Coal Authority’s executive leadership team and Board, and work with UK Government departments to progress our work.

About The Role
We are building a new Contract Management and Assurance Team which will define and implement a contract management playbook which provides guidance to our delivery teams.
You will agree and implement the playbook, which will provide guidance to the Authority on managing a range of contractual and commercial relationships in line with Government Functional Standards and best practice in order to ensure the organisation gets best value from its commercial partnerships.
This key leadership post will lead the development of a centre of excellence for contract and commercial management, providing advice and guidance to those managing contracts and commercial relationships across the organisation in order to allow us to use our commercial relationships to make a better future for people and the environment in former mining areas that will protect the environment.
  • To define and agree an assurance framework, which allows the organisation to ensure it, is driving fair value for all from our commercial partnerships
  • To provide strategic commercial leadership, providing effective contract administration, commercial assurance and performance management.
  • To develop and maintain good commercial management processes and ensure compliance with programme governance requirements both within the Coal Authority and the wider requirements of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
