Electrical Associate

I am recruiting on behalf of a well-established building services consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

You will work across a varied portfolio of projects and have the opportunity to influence both project outcomes and business development activities.

The Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for the delivery of electrical building services design projects from initial feasibility through to completion and handover.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and wider design teams while ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards.
What You'll Be Doing

• Leading electrical design projects from concept through to completion
• Attending client, contractor, and design team meetings
• Undertaking condition surveys, feasibility studies, and technical reporting
• Carrying out site surveys and gathering project information
• Producing detailed electrical designs and specifications
• Preparing electrical calculations using industry-standard software
• Providing project cost estimates and budget information
• Reviewing tenders and making technical recommendations
• Assessing contractor design submissions and working drawings
• Responding to technical queries throughout construction
• Monitoring project progress, quality, and programme performance on site
• Attending site progress meetings and conducting inspections
• Witnessing testing and commissioning activities
• Managing project finances and commercial performance
• Coordinating internal resources and project delivery teams
• Supporting and mentoring junior electrical engineers
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Identifying and securing new business opportunities where possible

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the building services sector
• Strong electrical building services design knowledge
• Experience producing detailed design calculations and specifications
• Ability to manage projects throughout the full project lifecycle
• Strong understanding of contractor coordination and site monitoring
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers
• Commercial awareness and project financial management experience
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and project delivery
