SCM Beam Saw Operator

Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–5:00pm | Friday, 6:00am–12:00pm (46 hour per week)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Beam Saw Operator to join a well-established panel processing and furniture manufacturer based in Halifax.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone with previous beam saw experience who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Working as part of a two-person team, you will operate an SCM beam saw, cutting a variety of sheet materials to optimised cutting lists while maintaining quality, productivity and minimal material waste.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate an SCM beam saw to produce accurate panels from MFC, MDF, chipboard, plywood and laminated boards
• Read and work from cutting lists, optimisation patterns and technical drawings
• Load and unload sheet materials safely
• Check dimensions, squareness and finish quality of completed panels
• Label and stack cut components ready for the next stage of production
• Change and set saw and scoring blades when required
• Carry out routine daily checks and basic machine maintenance
• Report faults, downtime and material shortages to the Production Supervisor
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Follow all health & safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Support other areas of production when required

• Previous experience operating a beam saw
• SCM beam saw experience would be a strong advantage, although experience with Holzma/Homag, Biesse, Giben or similar machinery will also be considered
• An understanding of cutting optimisation software
• Good numeracy and accurate measuring skills
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
• A reliable and punctual approach to work
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• A forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential
