Year 2 Class Teacher – Worthing Primary School
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and inspirational Year 2 Teacher to join our team.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring all pupils are supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
They will create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development in line with the National Curriculum and the school's values.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, using assessment information to inform future planning and intervention.
- Prepare pupils effectively for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments while maintaining a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom where children feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues to support children's learning and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure effective classroom support.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding in accordance with school policies.
- Contribute to curriculum development, school improvement initiatives, and extracurricular activities where appropriate.
- Attend staff meetings, training, parent consultations, and school events as required.
- Maintain accurate records and complete reports in line with school expectations.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and assessment requirements for Key Stage 1.
- Be an enthusiastic and reflective practitioner with high expectations for all pupils.
- Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Be committed to inclusive education and meeting the needs of children with diverse learning abilities.
- Work effectively as part of a supportive team while also demonstrating initiative.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for delivering engaging lessons.
- Ability to inspire confidence, resilience, and independence in young learners.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
