Nurse General Manager - £60,000/annum

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and clinically strong Nurse General Manager (RGN/RMN/RNLD) to lead the overall management and performance of our Nursing Home.

The successful candidate must be a registered nurse with a valid NMC PIN and have a minimum of 3–4 years’ experience in a Home Manager within a nursing home environment.

The Nurse General Manager will be responsible for clinical governance, regulatory compliance, financial performance, staff leadership, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with CQC Fundamental Standards and relevant legislation.

Essential Requirements

Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) with active NMC PIN

Minimum 3–4 years’ management experience within a nursing home

Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations and inspection frameworks

Proven track record of achieving Good or Outstanding CQC ratings

Experience managing budgets and financial performance

Strong leadership and workforce management skills

Excellent understanding of safeguarding and clinical governance

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Quality Governance

Ensure full compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

Lead clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance processes.

Maintain safe medication management systems.

Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.

Prepare for and lead CQC inspections.

Operational Management

Manage the day-to-day operations of the nursing home.

Ensure safe staffing levels and effective rota management.

Monitor occupancy levels and support business development initiatives.

Maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and external professionals.

Leadership & Workforce Development

Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing staff teams.

Provide clinical supervision and performance management.

Promote a positive, supportive, and accountable working culture.

Ensure staff training compliance and continuous professional development.

Financial Management

Manage and monitor the home’s budget.

Control agency usage and staffing costs.

Ensure effective resource allocation without compromising care quality.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Act as Safeguarding Lead within the service.

Ensure all incidents are reported, investigated, and managed appropriately.

Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory defensibility.
