Shift Pattern: Fulltime Days occasional Nights

Location: Great Yarmouth NR31

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality, safe and person-centred nursing care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are met in line with NMC standards, CQC regulations, and the home’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to residents at all times
  • Conduct and review nursing assessments, care plans, and risk assessments
  • Administer medications safely in accordance with NMC guidelines and company policy
  • Monitor residents’ physical and mental health, identifying and escalating any deterioration promptly
  • Manage wounds, pressure area care, continence care, and end-of-life care
  • Accurately document care provided, maintaining clear and up-to-date records

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Supervise and support care assistants and junior staff on shift
  • Act as Nurse in Charge when required
  • Promote best practice and a positive, professional working environment
  • Participate in staff handovers and multidisciplinary meetings

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Safeguard residents in line with local safeguarding procedures
  • Adhere to CQC Fundamental Standards, NMC Code, and company policies
  • Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained
  • Report incidents, accidents, and concerns appropriately

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide emotional support and clear information to residents and relatives
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

Professional Development

  • Maintain a valid NMC registration and revalidation requirements
  • Participate in mandatory training and continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Support student nurses or newly appointed staff when required

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC PIN
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Good knowledge of CQC standards and safeguarding
  • Strong clinical skills and decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills

Desirable

  • Experience working in a nursing or care home environment
  • Knowledge of dementia care and end-of-life care
  • Leadership or mentorship experience
