Prison Nurse

An exciting new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Prison Nurse to work in a prison service based in the Chelmsford, Essex area.

You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers

Nurses in the prisons operate round-the-clock, nurse-led healthcare including prisoner screening on arrival and all primary care such as minor surgery, in-patient units and prescribing.

They also coordinate a wide range of other service providers, such as GP practices, to provide seamless care

*To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse with a valid NMC Pin and previous experience of working in a hospital or custodial setting

As a Nurse your key duties include:

• Assess individual care needs, implement, and evaluate holistic programmes of care


• Treat all patients as individuals, listening to their concerns, and always respecting their privacy and dignity


• Adhere to medicines management related activities in accordance with company medicines policy to ensure the safe, legal, and appropriate use of medicines


• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and collaborate team


• Attend appropriate training and maintain competencies in all relevant areas

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

• Research and clinical audit experience


• Mentorship/teaching/assessing experience


• Team management and multidisciplinary working experience


• Ability to work under pressure


• Clinical Governance agenda


• Ability to assess, deliver, evaluate and benchmark quality care


• Relevant post registration experience

The successful Nurse will receive an excellent salary of £34,000 - £36,000 per annum.
