Consultant Psychiatrist

A brilliant new job opportunity has arisen for a motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to work in an exceptional mental health hospital based in the Midhurst, West Sussex area.

You will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers

This is a brand new residential facility opening soon providing specialist mental health care for young adults aged 18 to 25 with eating disorders

As the Consultant Psychiatrist you key responsibilities include:

• Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission


• Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans of all patients on the unit


• Conduct risk assessment and review regularly


• Allocate specialist psychological treatments in line with individual need


• Assess physical health - taking special responsibility for medical issues


• Supervising and directing the work of other staff who treat the patients


• Ensuring effective liaison with referring/community teams, specialists and Commissioners


• Facilitating regular CPA, professionals and family meeting


• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act


• Take part in the On Call Consultant rota, approximately one in six,


• Involvement in quality, inspections and governance processes


• Maintaining professional development, Annual Appraisals and Revalidation

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:

• Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams


• To be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists


• Be accredited or about to be accredited in Forensic psychiatry with the GMC


• To have had an appraisal/RITA within the last year

The successful Consultant Psychiatrist will receive an excellent salary of £150,000 per annum.

This exciting position is a Full Time role working 37.5 hours a week.
