Occupational Therapist - Relocation to Australia

Sirona Medical are delighted to be working with a client in Australia who have opportunities for Occupational Therapist in Victoria, Australia. 

There are opportunities within:

  • Forensic Intervention Service working with adults and young people.

    Experience working in Probation services, Prisons and other Correctional facilities for adults and juveniles
  • Hospital and Community Teams.

    Required to undertake mental health assessments, treatment and deliver continuing care / case coordination for people with mental illness in the hospital setting and in the community.

    In addition, you will need to provide support, advice and assistance for other community agencies in the Metropolitan Region. 

    • Forensic Intervenion
    About the role:
    You will be providing a range of services State-wide, including screenings, assessments, group-based intervention programs and related tasks, in line with service requirements.
    You will need to complete comprehensive case notes in a timely fashion, using the departments information systems.
    In addition, you will be preparing treatment plans, treatment reports and risk assessments reports for internal and external stakeholders.

    Knowledge:
    • A knowledge of and commitment to the use of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of therapeutic intervention.
    • An understanding of and commitment to the application of best practice principles of therapeutic intervention with service users, including (but not restricted to) the Risk Needs Responsivity Model, and Strengths Based Approaches.
    • Knowledge and skills in conducting assessments and developing case formulation.
    Key selection criteria:
    • General Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or
    • Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW); or
    • Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses; or
    • Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
    • A current Driving Licence

    Hospital and Community
    About the role:
    You will be required to undertake primary consultation services including triage, assessments, and continuing care planning.

    In addition, you will need to have experience in providing acute assessments and treatments for clients in the Hospital setting, and the community, and co ordinating all aspects of discharge planning.
    As part of the day-to-day role, you will Perform all case management and case co-ordination tasks in relation to clients, and the implementation of their treatment and discharge plans. 

    Key selection criteria:
    • Approved degree and registration in Nursing, Social work, Psychology or Occupational Therapy, with full AHPRA registration or membership of the AASW.
    • Demonstrated experience, skill and / or knowledge in the provision of direct clinical care to people who have experienced mental illness and demonstrated knowledge and application of Recovery-based principles.

      This includes well developed clinical skills in assessment, planning and therapeutic intervention.
    • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills including the use of various computer programs such as Excel, Word and client management systems.
    • Working knowledge of the relevant Mental Health Act and associated regulatory frameworks Desirable.
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including inter/intra agency joint case work, and provide community based mental health assessments.
    Mandatory Requirements:
    • National Police Clearance Certificate.
    • Working with Children Check:
    • Driver's License: A class.

    The client are offering a relocation package for successful candidate and family plus sponsorship to live and work in Australia.

    Annual salary's are dependent on each department and experience of applicants.
