Bid Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bid Manager to join our organisation. As Bid Manager, you will help identify, manage and write tenders across APCOA’s range of public and private sector business units.

Inclusive responsibilities will include coordinating Bid Teams of subject matter experts, enhancing the quality of our tender submissions, contributing to presentation preparation and, if required, supporting in the face-to-face pitching of APCOA’s propositions.

This role will involve working closely with the Managing Director, Commercial Director, Business Unit Directors, Marketing, IT, Finance and Operational colleagues in the development and delivery of compelling bids.

What you'll do:

  • To seek, identify and secure new profitable & sustainable business opportunities for the Company by leading/managing formal bid processes.
  • To form and maintain working relations with key players within public and private sector organisations where such relationships may enhance the Company’s business opportunities and its understanding of pipeline opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen, and an understanding of procurement procedures and processes in both the public and private sectors, and utilise this for new business acquisition and contract retention success.
  • Develop compelling win-themes, strategic advantages and bid differentiators (in conjunction with operational colleagues) to heighten chances of success via the competitive tender channel.
  • Write, create and prepare pre-qualification questionnaires and ITT responses, working closely with the Business Development team and relevant operational/support services colleagues, ensuring excellence in quality, accuracy and presentation.
  • Prepare key and accurate information - including commercial workbooks, formal Group dealbooks, Powerpoint presentations and client handouts - for the preparation and presentation of bids and tenders, working closely with colleagues in operations and finance in putting together the relevant financial and budgetary information for the bids and managing investment risk.
  • As part of the bid process; enter negotiations with the potential client and Apcoa suppliers to ensure that the Company’s interests are served to secure profitable new business.
  • Identify and advise the Executive on any changes in trends, legislation or processes that may affect the bid process.    
  • To work with other members of the Business Development team, in the  promotion of the Company and its services as part of the strategy for raising the profile of APCOA within new and existing client area
  • To balance the acquisition of new clients and retention of current portfolio with the mitigation of risk for the business.
What you'll bring:
  • Experience of brief taking, bid preparation, client presentations and negotiation.
  • Experience of working in a similar role within the service or  business to business sectors
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the procurement process within public and private sectors, from EOI to PQQ and ITT response.
  • Ability to plan and work to deliver to deadlines across a range of tasks.
  • Ability to compile, read and understand large operational, technical and financial documents in a range of formats.
  • Good analytical, report writing and financial forecasting skills, as well as being comfortable preparing and presenting financial data in Excel and other software formats.
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills
