Social Work Assistant

Sirona Medical's Social Work Department are recruiting for a Social Work Assistant for the Duty and Assessment Team. 

The Social Work Assistant is a new and exciting opportunity to work flexibly alongside a frontline social work team supporting them with their day to day functions.

This role requires someone to be a great communicator, to be flexible, child focussed, responsive and skilled in the use of various IT systems.

You will work closely with every member of the team from the Head of Service to the newly qualified social worker with responsibility for a variety of direct work with children and families and the administrative tasks required to support the social workers so they can focus directly on the children they work with.

Responsibilities will include, but are not exclusive to, working directly with children and families under the direction of the social worker in order to deliver time limited support, making contact with partner agencies to gather and share information, taking & recording minutes, writing letters, completing referrals to other agencies, maintaining electronic files and any other tasks identified by your manager.

The Social Work Assistant will work closely with the Heads of Service, social work colleagues and partners to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

● Educated to GCSE or equivalent (essential)
● Educated to A level or higher level of further education (desirable)

Skills and experience
● Experienced in using a variety of IT recording systems
● An awareness of child developmental stages and the impact of adverse childhood experiences
● A developing confidence in working directly with children and families
● Excellent written, verbal and comprehension skills
● Experienced and confident in communicating with professionals to share, gather and record information
● Awareness of Children’s Services processes and procedures and knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004.

● Experience of providing customer services, with an excellent understanding of, and ability to deliver, high quality customer care skills in an anti-discriminatory context
● Experienced in taking and writing minutes of meetings
