Client Engagement Support Worker

About The Role
A position for a Client Engagement Support Worker has become available at saha on a Part Time, Fixed Term Contract.
At South West Surrey Refuge we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, good quality housing services, support and resettlement for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
We are seeking a Client Engagement Support Worker who will use their initiative, creativity and flair to arrange activities and outings for women who have fled their homes – ideally a person who can bring together inspirational ideas and resources for group/one to one activities and bring something different to the team.
By creating and holding group sessions for/with the women, the Client Engagement Support Worker will help rebuild confidence and self-esteem thus helping women come to terms with the abuse they have experienced. 

About The Candidate
Aptitudes / Abilities:

  • A good understanding of domestic abuse and awareness of related issues
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a can do attitude
  • Demonstrable empathy with the client group
  • Confident and capable communicator with the ability to inspire, engage and challenge
  • Great verbal, written and influencing skills
  • Ability to use a computer, e.g.

    Microsoft packages and capacity to successfully navigate support packages used by saha
  • Ability to plan forward, prepare and deliver activities, group sessions and outings
  • Able to participate in an on call rota as appropriate when engaged.
Experience / Interests:  
  • A good understanding of domestic abuse and it’s effects on women and children.
  • Experience of or knowledge related to working with vulnerable people or groups
  • Proven capacity to deal successfully with difficult and complex situations when needed
  • Understanding of wider support and funding facilities available for vulnerable clients
  • Capacity to understand individual support plans, personal development programmes and needs and risk assessments
