Salary: £60,000 - £65,000+ exclusive benefits
Location: 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD.

Hybrid working conditions are currently in place which means working remotely and coming to the office when required.

The Investment programme has invested close to £850m in projects and has responsibility for two loan investment programmes to which the WMCA has committed £210m for real estate projects

As our Senior Investment Portfolio Manager, you'll work with the Investment and Commercial Activities Director to ensure best value for money is being achieved across the portfolio of investments.

You'll play a key role in monitoring performance and assessing impacts of business case change requests, acting as a critical friend working alongside our partners to achieve best outcome.

Additionally, you'll embed an effective way of evaluating projects upon completion.

Each directorate is responsible for delivering against their plans to meet the long-term strategy for the Region and their area.

Your role is to provide support and expert advice on how they can deliver.

This is a key role reporting directly to the Director of Investment and Commercial Activities and will support the delivery of the WMCA investment strategy.

What will you be doing?

, Progressing documentation of approved funding awards with the recipient, our Legal department and other WMCA colleagues including preparation of Heads of Terms and validating Project Delivery Plans
, Responsible for existing investments to ensure that Business Cases are being fulfilled on budget and in a timely manner, with outputs as envisioned, and taking a proactive role in assessing the implications as projects develop
, Recommending strategy for dealing with potential changes to Business Cases and providing best advice to project Sponsors to ensure continued value for money for the Combined Authority and its stakeholders
, Working with the Assurance team to ensure that Change Requests are received in a clear and concise format and that these are fully understood
, Evaluating opportunities to deliver alternative funding streams for existing projects
, Working with the Investment team and Sponsors to ensure new projects are conceived in a way which is best set to deliver quantifiable outputs and helping shape such proposals
, Providing a high-quality relationship management service to promote collaboration alongside project Sponsors and other Private Sector and Public Sector Funders

About you

We encourage candidates from varied sector backgrounds, and you may well be working within the Investment or Development sector or in Financial Services.

You'll have experience of providing specialist advice and support to complex investments with an understanding of the rationale and returns for public sector investment and/or the role of patient capital.

You'll be able to build rapport and establish good working relationships with your stakeholders and understand their needs and how best to achieve the desired outcome.
