Communications Manager

Our client, a University Student's Union based in Coventry is looking for an individual with a passion for creative communications to join an ambitious team that values collaboration to achieve our goals.

You will deliver excellent communication, marketing initiatives and campaigns across the organisation, developing and enhancing our brand awareness to drive engagement on our digital channels.

This role will ensure the conception and delivery of engaging campaigns while growing and protecting CUSU’s brand value and reputation.

You will have significant experience of marketing, including a digital marketing background.

You will have experience of managing a small team to be able to create content that our students and the wider student movement want to read, view and share.

Using your expertise and professional knowledge, you will adapt communications to channel audiences and relevant marketing trends, ensuring communications are consistent with business strategy to internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate with have a passion for data-driven decision making and community management.

You will be passionate about communications, embedding skill and understanding across the organisation and using research and analytics to inform CUSU’s brand’s key growth and objectives.


  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Communication/Literacy and Numeracy (e.g.

    GCSE English and Maths) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in Communications/Marketing (or relevant qualification e.g.

    Degree) or significant equlivalent experience
  • Significant experience of marketing, including a digital marketing background
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Experience of modern media techniques, including web based and social networks


  • To ensure effective and efficient communication and marketing of CUSU and CUSU projects, increase engagement with the organisation and brand across all CUSU locations and online
  • To develop and maintain a brand personality for all CUSU communications across all platforms.

    To produce reports on marketing data analytics and to develop and implement strategies to continually maximise reach across all media
  • To ensure CUSU campaigns are effective, targeted and cost effective and reach students across the Coventry University Group, and the implementation of long-term strategic plans
  • Develop and implement data-driven, audience focused, marketing campaign strategies and plans for CUSU that will achieve campaign objectives including generating and converting leads and increasing brand awareness
  • Liaise with external media and press to support the effective communications of CUSU services, campaigns and activities
